Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information ChaCha, Inc. (“ChaCha Insurance”, “we” or “us”) collects through this website, how we use it, when we share it and the choices you have. It covers chachainsurance.com and the forms on it.

Information we collect

We collect information in three ways: what you type into our forms, details that are sent along with a quote or contact request and a small record of your visit that this site keeps in your own browser.

What you give us

• Quote requests: your name, email address, phone number, address or ZIP code, the kind of insurance you are interested in and the details you give about what you want insured. Depending on the insurance, that can include your date of birth, your vehicles and the people who drive them, your home, rental or condo, your boat, your pets, your business, your current insurance and past claims and for life and health quotes, a few household and health basics such as height, weight, tobacco use and an income range. We do not ask for your Social Security number, driver's license number, bank or card details or medical history on this website.
• Contact requests: your first and last name, email address, phone number if you give it, the topic, the kind of insurance it is about and your message.
• Blog comments: your name, email address and comment. Your name and comment are published on the post with the date. Your email address is not published.

If you call or email us instead, we receive whatever you choose to tell us there.

What is sent with a quote or contact request

When you send one of these requests, the following details go with it so we know how you found us and can help you well:

• How you found us: the website that sent you here (for example a search engine or a social network), any campaign tags in the link you followed and the click ID an advertising network adds to its ad links (for example Google Ads, Microsoft Ads or Meta), for your first visit and for your most recent one.
• Your visit: the page you first landed on, the pages you viewed during this visit (up to the last 12), when the visit started and the page and button you used to open the form.
• Your browser and device: browser language, time zone, screen and window size, device type, browser, operating system, device model when your browser reports it and the description your browser sends with every request (its “user agent”).
• Your network: your IP address and, when our hosting provider supplies it, an approximate location (city, region and country) based on that IP address.

Blog comments are sent without these details.

Cookies and browser storage

We use two analytics tools to see how people use this site so we can improve it: Google Analytics (from Google) and Microsoft Clarity (from Microsoft). They set cookies and collect details such as the pages you view, your clicks and scrolling, your device and browser and an approximate location. Clarity can also make recordings and heat maps of how pages are used. Google and Microsoft handle this data under their own privacy policies. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or turn off Google Analytics with Google's opt-out add-on. We do not use advertising or social media tracking tools.

To know how you found us, the site saves three small entries in your browser's local storage for this site. They stay on your device and are only sent to us if you send a quote or contact request.

• First visit (cc_attr_first): how you first found us and the page you landed on. It is replaced on your first visit after 90 days.
• Latest source (cc_attr_last): the last time you arrived from another website, a tagged link or an ad. It is replaced the next time that happens.
• This visit (cc_attr_session): the pages you view during this visit, up to 12. After 30 minutes without activity a new visit starts and replaces it.

You can delete these entries at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings and private or incognito windows usually clear them when you close the window. The site and its forms work the same without them.

How we use your information

• To answer your request: to prepare and compare quotes, reply to your message and help with your policy.
• To contact you about your request by phone, text or email, as you agree to when you send a form. Agreeing is not a condition of buying insurance.
• To send you an email that confirms we received your request, with a copy of what you sent.
• To keep a record of your request and of how we helped.
• To learn which pages, searches, links and ads bring people to us, so we can improve the site and how we reach people.
• To protect the site and its forms from spam and abuse.
• To meet our legal and regulatory duties as an insurance agency.

When you send a quote or contact request, the details you typed are saved in the content management system that runs this website, where our team keeps track of requests. The full request, including how you found us and your device and network details, is emailed to our team and you receive a confirmation email. Blog comments are saved in the same system and shown on the post.

When we share it

We share your information only in these cases:

• With insurance companies, when you ask for a quote. We share the details needed to quote you with the insurance companies we work with. If you apply for a policy, the insurance company will ask for more information and will handle it under its own privacy notice.
• With service providers. Companies that host and run this website, store form submissions, send our email and measure how the site is used (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) receive your information so they can provide those services to us.
• When the law requires it. To comply with a law, regulation, court order or request from a government authority, such as a state insurance department or to protect the rights, property or safety of our clients, the public or us.
• With your permission. When you ask us to share it with someone, such as a family member or another advisor.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with other companies for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

The entries in your browser are kept for the times listed above, unless you clear them sooner.

We keep quote requests, messages and the emails about them for as long as we need them to respond to you and to serve you if you become a client and for as long as insurance and other laws require us to keep records. When we no longer need them, we delete them. Comments stay on the blog until they are removed, by us or at your request.

To stop spam, our server keeps a short count of recent requests by IP address and email address. It is held only in the server's memory, covers about the last hour and is not saved anywhere.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy,
• correct information that is wrong or incomplete,
• delete your information,
• stop contacting you by phone, text or email and
• remove a comment you posted on our blog.

To make a request, email us at [email protected] or call 833-CHA-CHA5. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on it. If the law requires us to keep some information or we need it for a policy you have through us, we will tell you.

Depending on where you live, your state's law may give you other rights. Contact us and we will help. You can also delete the browser entries described above yourself at any time.

Children

This site is meant for adults shopping for insurance. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We limit access to your information to the people and service providers who need it to help you and we take reasonable steps to protect it. No website, email or storage system is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive details such as Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers or bank details through our forms or by email. We will ask for them when we need them.

Links to other websites

This site links to websites we do not run, such as our social media pages and map directions. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
